Sexual orientation: what is it and what it happens?

Sexual orientation: what is it and what it happens?.

Sexual orientation is the choice of a partner for romantic, emotional and physical proximity based on his biological sex. It determines the category of persons capable of causing attraction at the mental and chemical level, that is, those who are a pattern for excitement.

It is believed that sexual orientation is built on three important aspects associated with its own identity and is a closing link in the concept of sexuality.  This is first of all Biological gender, which determines the role during intercourse at the level of physiology. A man is always an active partner who takes a party.

The second component is considered to be gender identity, when a person determines the appropriate and inappropriate behavior for him. A tender sex can assume that a woman’s functions during sex are humiliating or she would like to dominate. Also, a man is able to perceive his role as a predator and dominant as not corresponding to his true needs.

The third level will be Gender role individual in society.  The girl should be married, the man takes responsibility at the level of the defender, the miner and the predator. She is a mother, a housewife, a guarantor of stability in a relationship. He is a father, mentally stable, strong, decisive, persistent, purposeful. All these qualities are in one way or another in sex.

It is worth noting that all four qualities are not constant. That is, a person throughout life is able to change each of them. Both biological gender with the help of an operation on the genitals and taking hormones, and gender identity through the rejection of imposed stereotypes, and a gender role, abandoning the demonstration of the masculinity and role of the parent. Naturally sexual orientation is also amenable to change.

What is non -traditional sexual orientation

A person is constantly in a grip of two norms. The first is public, formulated on the basis of the traditions and customs of a particular people. The second is the internal, which occurs at the level of the psyche and chemistry, under the influence of emotions, feelings, hormones.

The vast majority of peoples consider only the intercourse between persons of the opposite sex. I say the majority because history knows completely different cases. In ancient Rome, before the arrival of Christianity, the sex life of citizens was not limited to anything and even incest did not surprise anyone. Agrippina was completely married to her closest relatives and there is a number of evidence that she was close to her own son.

I do not know a single religion where the same -sex intimate connections would be approved, or at least ignored. To continue the genus, the romantic and love relations of a man and a woman are necessary, everything else is destructive for civilization. Thus, the norm in society has always been and will only be the intercourse between representatives of different biological sex.

However, the psyche does not care about morality. A person hostage of his own hormonal background, emotions, feelings and sensations. Sex drive can occur not only in the opposite, but also to its gender. But it may be absent at all. And to deny it the same as fighting windmills or being upset that the sky is blue.

And so, we get two indisputable facts. The first – the norm in society will always be an intimacy between a man and a woman. The second – there are a huge number of people who are faced with completely different patterns of behavior and experience sexual, romantic and emotional attraction to representatives of their gender.

Thus, the first will be a traditional sexual orientation, and everything else is non -traditional. That is, not corresponding to the expectations of society and contradicting the usual layout.

The formation of sexual orientation

There are a great many theories associated with sexual orientation, but not one of them found unequivocal confirmation. Supporters of biological justifications achieved the greatest successes, but each time in their reports something was missing.

Psychologists are inclined to the fact that sexual orientation can arise in early childhood when interacting with a significant adult. However, no one has presented evidence. It was not possible to detect direct dependence.

The influence of context plays an important role. A critical decrease in self -esteem and the rejection of the gender role of the biological sex is able to lead a man to the desire to obey and then in sex he will most likely choose a passive position during intercourse with other man. The theory of suppression of self -esteem sounds convincing, but again no facts as a result of research.

A woman who has replaced gender identity and showing a tendency to power is able to dominate and then intimate life will be supplemented by Femed practices. But not all of them choose as partners of other women, many remain heterosexual for life.

Scientists have come to a standstill. Hormones are able to strengthen or reduce sexual desire, but how they can affect the choice of a partner on a sexual basis? Hatred of men, called the Misandria, leads to an unwillingness to enter into intimacy with them, but whether lesbianism can be considered a conscious choice or in this case we are talking about its absence?!

Latentity of sexual orientation

In the coincidence of all aspects of sexuality (orientation, gender identity, gender role and biological gender), a person becomes normal from the point of view of society. Meets the expectations of others and lives with a sense of his own adequacy.

If the orientation differs from the biological sex, a person becomes a representative of unconventional orientation. A man wants a man, a girl wants a girl. But there is a more complicated situation. . Such a person will be latent, that is, hidden.

Example. A man, that is, having a biological sex of a boy, meets the requirements of the masculinity presented by society. He is strong, brave, aggressive, never cries. This is gender identity. He is a defender, the head of the family, the miner. This is a gender role. But wants sex with other men. This is an orientation that does not correlate either with the biological sex, nor with gender identity, or with the gender role.

Your drives have to be suppressed and hidden. Emotions driven into the subconscious become stronger and begin to adjust behavior from the inside. Aggression directed at itself over time will result in and go to others. Such people, unfortunately, turn into homophobes. Hatred of oneself and his desires is projected on others..

Types of sexual orientation

There are four types of sexual orientation. For many years, scientists argued about asexuality. Some argue that this is a complete lack of attraction, others are convinced that it is an independent and self -sufficient look. Therefore, today, the correct answer will be both three types of sexual orientation and four.

Heterosexuality – This is a romantic, platonic, emotional and erotic attraction to faces of the opposite sex. Cross of communication at all levels, from friendship and communication to intimacy. Is traditional as it is observed in most mammals. It is necessary to continue the genus and maintain the survival of the species due to joint management of life, the birth and education of children.

Homosexuality – sexual orientation on the faces of their gender. In this case, we cannot talk about the choice of a partner at all levels from friendship and communication to physical proximity. There are frequent cases when a person chooses a representative of the opposite sex to create a family, using homo satellites solely for the sake of pleasure in bed.

This reinforces the theory that non -traditional sexual orientation can be caused by context, hormones and traumatic experience of interacting with a significant adult. Homosexuality can be the result of fears (both with Misandria) and a consequence of a critical fall in self -esteem. Although total homosexuality is often found, such people make marriages and live as full -fledged romantic partners.

Bisexuality – the lack of the significance of the biological sex of the partner when choosing it. There is also ambiguity here, because many men, for example, perceive other men only as sexual partners and are not ready to enter into romantic relationships or emotional closeness.

Girls may not experience a strong attraction, but at the same time not against experiments where another girl will become a partner during sex. Scientists more and more agree that bisexuality does not exist as such. These are people mainly hetero or homosexuals, and the intercourse with the representative of their gender is more likely than a desire. That is, they can experience excitement with those and others, but give preference to someone alone.

Asexuality – lack of sex drive does not include erectile dysfunction, frigidity and other disorders of physiological processes. At the same time, asxuals do not deny sex as a fact, that is, they do not belong to it negatively.

Many still agree that asexuality cannot be the norm by any criteria. Therefore, the terms are increasingly in use of demi -novelty and demisexuality. In the first case, this is an unwillingness to enter into a relationship without emotional proximity and maximum trust, in the second rejection of sex without the same qualities of a partner.

Sexual intercourse for such people is regarded as a need to achieve some goal. Most often this is a child’s conception. But it happens that a person is forced to have sex with a partner to satisfy his needs. This is not violence, just asxual is not difficult and does not need at the same time.
